Crucea Caraiman

The Caraiman Cross, also known as the Heroes' Cross on Caraiman Peak, is an imposing monument built in the 1920s on a ridge in the Bucegi massif, at high altitude, in memory of the soldiers who fell in the First World War. With its metal structure tens of metres tall, set on a massive concrete base, the cross is visible from a great distance and, being lit at night, can be seen from Busteni and across the whole Prahova Valley. It has been recognised as the tallest cross in the world placed on a mountain peak. Its construction at such an altitude, in harsh conditions, was a genuine engineering feat of the era. The site offers a dizzying panorama over the mountains and the valley below. Practical note: it is reached by cable car from Busteni to the Bucegi plateau and then along a marked trail, or by a more demanding hike; proper mountain gear is needed even in summer.

Cascada Tamina

The Tamina Waterfall, near the resort of Busteni at the foot of the Bucegi massif, is a picturesque cascade hidden among rock walls and lush vegetation. Waters rising in the mountain tumble over steps of rock in a cool, shaded setting, appreciated above all on hot summer days. The access route starts from the Busteni area and follows a marked path through the forest, offering views along the way towards the slopes of the Bucegi. The waterfall is an accessible attraction, suited to short family hikes but also a starting point for longer mountain routes. The natural setting, with the murmur of water and clean air, turns the place into a relaxing stop. Proper footwear for the mountain path is recommended, along with care on the wet and slippery stretches near the falls.

Muzeul Cezar Petrescu Bușteni

The Cezar Petrescu Museum in Busteni is the memorial house of the well-known Romanian writer, author of beloved novels and stories, among them the children's book Fram, the Polar Bear. The home in which Cezar Petrescu lived and created an important part of his work has been turned into a museum and preserves the furniture, library, personal objects, manuscripts and photographs of the writer. Visitors can discover the atmosphere in which many of his writings were born, in a mountain setting that inspired him. The house, at the foot of the Bucegi in the resort of Busteni, combines memorial value with the charm of a period residence. The museum is a fitting cultural stop for tourists on the Prahova Valley. Checking the opening schedule, which may vary with the season and with organised events, is recommended.
