Parcul Central Turda

The Central Park of Turda, in Cluj County, is the town's oldest and best-loved green retreat, a public garden laid out as far back as the 19th century, when Turda prospered on salt and administration. Alleys shaded by centuries-old trees, chestnuts and limes, wind around broad resting spaces with benches, flower beds and fountains that enliven the scorching summers of the Transylvanian Plain. The park has always been the promenade of Turda's families, the Sunday meeting point and the setting of the town's festivities.
Over the decades it has been redesigned and modernised, gaining playgrounds, paved paths and lighting, yet it keeps the charm of a historic garden. It lies a few steps from the old centre, the Reformed church and the administrative buildings, a natural place to pause during a visit. Practical note: pair the stroll with a visit to the nearby Turda Salt Mine.
