Grădina Publică Galați

The Public Garden of Galați is the oldest and finest park in the Danube city, laid out in the mid-19th century in romantic style, with winding paths, century-old trees, statues and a small lake. Set close to the Danube promenade, the garden has always been the locals place to stroll and retains an air of provincial belle époque, with kiosks, busts of local figures and a floral clock. Over the years it hosted the city first summer theatre and witnessed the social life of an important river port.

Today it remains an oasis of greenery and calm, pleasant for family walks, a step from the wide riverside promenade. It combines naturally with a walk along the quay and a visit to the historic centre. It is a relaxing stop, at its finest in spring and summer, when the vegetation is lush and the surrounding terraces are open.
