Cazinoul Băilor Vatra Dornei

The Spa Casino of Vatra Dornei is one of the most representative monuments of this spa resort in Bucovina, set in a valley of the Eastern Carpathians where the Dorna and Bistrița rivers meet, renowned since the nineteenth century for its carbonated mineral springs. Built in the period when Bucovina was under Austro-Hungarian administration, the casino impresses through its elegant architecture, with decoration and massing characteristic of the European spa resorts of the era. The building evokes the atmosphere of old, when Vatra Dornei was a sought-after destination for health cures and social life.

Together with the resort park, the captured springs and the other period buildings, the casino forms a historic ensemble of great value. The clean air, the surrounding coniferous forests and the tradition of mineral water treatments make Vatra Dornei a pleasant destination in any season, valued too for its proximity to the ski slopes. The casino remains the central landmark of the resort promenade.
