Rezervația Naturală Tinovul Mare Poiana Stampei

The Tinovul Mare Poiana Stampei Nature Reserve, near Vatra Dornei, is the largest oligotrophic peat bog in Romania and a rare habitat protected for its scientific value. This sphagnum peat moss bog formed over thousands of years and shelters vegetation typical of northern regions, including dwarf pine and numerous rare plant species adapted to acidic, nutrient-poor soil. A boardwalk trail lets visitors reach the heart of the reserve without damaging the fragile ecosystem, offering an unusual experience across a landscape reminiscent of Scandinavian tundra. The clean air, the silence and the spongy carpet of moss create a distinctive atmosphere, especially in autumn when the colours turn spectacular. The reserve lies close to the main road, making it easy to reach for those exploring Bucovina and the Dorna region. It is an ideal stop for nature lovers and for anyone interested in the unique biodiversity of the Carpathians.

Pârtia Dealu Negru Vatra Dornei

The Dealu Negru slope in Vatra Dornei is one of the most appreciated ski slopes in northern Romania, set in the heart of Bucovina, in a resort renowned both for winter sports and for its spa resources. The slope descends the flank of the hill overlooking the town and offers a pleasant run, suitable for experienced skiers and beginners alike. Fitted with a cable transport installation, the slope allows comfortable access to the upper part, from where fine views open over the town and the surrounding mountains. Vatra Dornei thus combines the appeal of winter sport with the charm of a mountain resort with tradition, where visitors can alternate skiing with walks and spa treatments.
