Satu Mare County

Satu Mare is the country's north-western corner, where the plain reaches toward the Hungarian and Ukrainian border. The seat, the city of Satu Mare, shows its Central European heritage in broad squares and baroque buildings, crowned by the Firemen's Tower, the town's slender landmark.

The county is known for its thermal baths, warm waters rising from the depths, and above all for the Oaș land, a distinct region of hills where folklore, traditional dress and wedding chants remain vividly alive.
