Telecabina Deva

The Deva Cable Car is a modern cableway that connects the centre of the town of Deva with the summit of Citadel Hill, where the ruins of the imposing medieval Deva Fortress stand. The ascent, though short, offers a pleasant experience and ever-widening views as the cabin rises above the town, revealing the panorama of the Mures valley and the surrounding mountains. The cable car was built to make it easier for tourists to reach the fortress, replacing the walk up which nevertheless remains an alternative for those who prefer hiking.
From the top, at the fortress, the view over the town and its surroundings is spectacular, especially towards sunset. The hill is also a nature reserve known for its vipers. Practical note: check the cable car's operating schedule before visiting, as it may be halted in strong wind; combine the ride with exploring the fortress ruins and the viewpoints.
