Tabăra de sculptură Măgura

The Măgura Sculpture Camp, in Buzău county, is an open-air museum unique in Romania, where more than 250 stone sculptures are scattered across the hills around the village of Măgura, near Ciolanu Monastery. The camp operated between 1970 and 1985, gathering artists from Romania and abroad who carved large-scale works from the local stone, integrated into the natural landscape. The result is a gallery under the open sky, where abstract and figurative forms merge with the grass, trees and hills, creating an unexpected dialogue between art and nature.
Visitors stroll among the sculptures along open paths, discovering works varied in style and inspiration in a quiet and photogenic setting. The site is closely linked to nearby Ciolanu Monastery, allowing a cultural visit to be combined with a spiritual one. The Măgura Sculpture Camp is a distinctive destination for art lovers and for those seeking an unusual experience in the sub-Carpathian nature of Buzău.
