Parcul Național Piatra Craiului

Piatra Craiului National Park protects one of the most spectacular limestone ridges in the Carpathians, a narrow, jagged crest that stretches for dozens of kilometres above the town of Zarnesti in Transylvania. The massif is famous for its steep landscapes, for the sharp ridge prized by climbers and for its remarkable biodiversity, which includes rare species of plants and animals, among them the celebrated Piatra Craiului pink, an endemic flower. The park offers many hiking routes, from easy walks through gorges and clearings to demanding ridge tours reserved for the experienced. The Zarnesti Gorge and the Zarnesti Ravines are popular access points, with impressive rock walls.
The area is also home to large carnivores such as bears, wolves and lynx, which calls for caution and respect for the park rules. Mountain gear, water and information about the trails are recommended. Piatra Craiului is a dream destination for lovers of wild nature and authentic mountain hiking.
