Muzeul Satului Bănățean

The Banat Village Museum in Timișoara is an open-air ethnographic museum, laid out in the Green Forest at the edge of the city, which recreates the traditional rural life of historical Banat. Over a large area, dozens of authentic peasant homesteads have been brought and reassembled: houses, wooden churches, craft workshops, mills, presses and folk technical installations, coming from different localities of the region and representing the multi-ethnic communities that lived together here, from Romanians and Germans to Serbs and Hungarians. Visitors can discover the characteristic architecture, furniture, household objects, folk costume and old farming tools, in a quiet natural setting among old trees.
The museum often organises fairs, workshops and events devoted to local crafts and traditions, bringing the world of the Banat village into the present. As an open-air museum, the visit involves a walk among the exhibits. Visitors are advised to check the schedule, which depends on the season, and to wear comfortable footwear for the alleys of the grounds.
