Muzeul Obiceiurilor Populare din Bucovina

The Museum of Folk Customs of Bukovina in Gura Humorului is devoted to the seasonal traditions, rituals and customs of this region of northern Romania. Its collection brings together folk costumes, ritual masks, props used in winter festivities, peasant tools and objects tied to the calendar of holidays, from Christmas and New Year to weddings and funerals. The displays emphasise the role of the village community in keeping these practices alive and the close bond between rural Bukovinian life and the cycle of the seasons.
Visitors gain a clearer sense of the symbolism behind masks, carols and mimed games. The museum makes a fitting starting point for travellers heading to the painted monasteries nearby, such as Voronet and Humor. It is wise to check opening times before arriving.
