Muzeul Etnografic al Transilvaniei

The Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca is the oldest ethnographic museum in Romania, founded in 1922, and holds one of the richest collections devoted to the region's traditional culture. The pavilion section, housed in a historic building in the city centre, presents folk costumes, textiles, pottery, household objects and traditional crafts from every ethnographic zone of Transylvania. The museum also has an open-air section, the Romulus Vuia Ethnographic Park, where farmsteads, wooden churches and peasant installations brought from Transylvanian villages have been reconstructed.
Visitors thus discover the diversity and refinement of folk culture, from colourful dress to vernacular architecture. Each exhibit tells a story about village life, beliefs, customs and the skill of the craftsmen of old. Set in the heart of Cluj, the museum is a valuable stop for anyone wishing to understand the cultural roots of Transylvania and the richness of its intangible heritage, and is well suited to families, students and lovers of tradition alike.
