Muzeul de Istorie Naturală Sibiu

The Natural History Museum in Sibiu, part of the Brukenthal Museum Complex, is one of the oldest and richest museums of its kind in Romania, with roots in the collections of the Transylvanian Society of Natural Sciences founded in the mid-19th century. The neoclassical building houses impressive collections of zoology, botany, mineralogy and palaeontology, gathered over more than a century and a half of research. Visitors discover dioramas of fauna from Transylvania and around the world, rare animal specimens, fossils, historic herbaria and a remarkable mineral collection.
The main hall, with its classic display cases and large skeletons, conveys the atmosphere of a museum steeped in tradition, blending scientific value with the charm of a heritage institution. The museum sits in the city centre, a short walk from the Grand Square, and is easy to combine with Sibiu's other attractions. It is an excellent destination for families, students and anyone passionate about the natural sciences.
