Muzeul de Artă Timișoara (Palatul Baroc)

The Art Museum of Timișoara is housed in the Baroque Palace, one of the finest historic buildings in the city, set in Union Square, the heart of the Baroque quarter. Built in the eighteenth century during Habsburg rule, the palace served over time as a residence for the administration of the Banat province, and its elegant façade is a remarkable example of Baroque architecture in the west of the country. The museum holds valuable collections of Romanian and European art, including painting, prints, and decorative arts from different periods.
A special place is given to works connected with local art and with artistic figures from the Banat. The galleries allow a chronological and thematic journey through the development of the visual arts. Its location in the central square makes the museum an easy sight to include in a tour of the old town.
Visitors can combine viewing the collections with discovering the architecture of the palace. It is worth checking which temporary exhibitions are on show.
