Memorialul Revoluției Timișoara

The Memorial of the Revolution in Timisoara is a museum and documentation centre devoted to the events of December 1989, when the uprising that led to the fall of the communist regime in Romania broke out in this city. Its collections gather photographs, documents, objects, films and testimonies of participants, reconstructing the chronology of the days in which Timisoara was proclaimed the first city free of communism. The institution serves as an archive and a place of memory, preserving the remembrance of those who lost their lives during the clashes.
The displays emphasise civic courage and the historical significance of the moment for the whole country. A visit deepens understanding of Romania's recent past and of the special role played by Timisoara. The memorial is a point of reference for anyone interested in contemporary history; checking the opening schedule is recommended.
