Grădina Mare Brăila

The Great Garden is the oldest and most beloved park in Braila, a port city on the bank of the Danube, in Braila county. Laid out as early as the nineteenth century, the park stands out for its wide paths, its old trees and its open view towards the Danube river, from the nearby embankment. The Great Garden has always been the favourite place for a stroll among the people of Braila, with recreation areas, statues, fountains and an elegant setting that recalls the flourishing period of the city, when Braila was an important commercial and port centre.

From here one can go down towards the Danube embankment, a beautiful promenade along the water. The park completes the distinctive atmosphere of the historic centre of Braila, with its old buildings and streets arranged in a fan shape. The Great Garden remains a pleasant stop for those discovering the special charm of this Danube city rich in history.
