Grădina Botanică Dimitrie Brândză

The "Dimitrie Brândză" Botanical Garden in Bucharest, belonging to the University of Bucharest, is the oldest university botanical garden in Romania, founded in the second half of the 19th century by the scholar whose name it bears. Set in the Cotroceni district, near Cotroceni Palace, the garden spreads over about seventeen hectares organised into themed sectors, with thousands of plant species from every corner of the world. The historic greenhouses shelter tropical plants, palms, cacti and water lilies, while the outdoor areas include rose gardens, ornamental beds and systematic collections. It is a place of study and research but also a green refuge cherished by locals for its calm.

In spring, the magnolias and lilac bloom spectacularly. Shaded paths invite leisurely walks away from the bustle of the city. Check the visiting schedule, which differs between seasons, and greenhouse access.
