Grădina Botanică Alexandru Borza

The "Alexandru Borza" Botanical Garden in Cluj-Napoca is one of the most beautiful and richest botanical gardens in South-Eastern Europe, founded in the 1920s by the scholar whose name it bears. Spread over about fourteen hectares, the garden is organised into themed sectors: ornamental, phytogeographic, systematic, economic and medicinal, gathering thousands of plant species from around the world. Highlights include the greenhouses with tropical and aquatic plants, where giant water lilies bloom, the Japanese garden with a stream and bridge, the Roman garden with antiquities and an observation tower with a panorama.
It is a place of study but also a refuge of calm, perfect for walks in any season, with bursts of colour in spring and summer. It belongs to Babeș-Bolyai University. Check the visiting schedule, which differs between the warm and cold seasons, and greenhouse access.
