Cabana Curmătura

The Curmatura Chalet is one of the most beloved mountain chalets in Romania, set in a picturesque clearing in Piatra Craiului National Park, at an altitude that offers superb views over the jagged limestone ridges of the massif. Reachable from Zarnesti on marked paths, the chalet is a classic starting point for hikes along the ridges of Piatra Craiului, one of the most spectacular massifs in the Carpathians, famed for its narrow, steep crest. The friendly atmosphere, warm food and mountain views make a stop here a memorable experience for hikers.

Around it, the coniferous forests and alpine meadows shelter a rich fauna, including chamois. The chalet is active all year and welcomes tourists in every season. Practical note: the hike to the chalet takes a few hours and requires mountain footwear; in winter the route is done with proper gear, and lodging should be booked ahead in the busy season.
