Bojdeuca lui Ion Creangă

The Bojdeuca of Ion Creanga in Iasi is the first memorial house in Romania, opened to the public back at the end of the nineteenth century. This modest cottage in the Ticau district was the home of the great Moldavian storyteller Ion Creanga, author of Childhood Memories and of tales cherished by generations of readers. In this simple little house, with its porch and shingled roof, the writer lived during the last part of his life and repeatedly received his friend, the poet Mihai Eminescu.
The interior preserves the humble atmosphere of the era, with household objects, manuscripts and testimonies linked to Creanga's life and work. Set on a quiet hill in Iasi and surrounded by greenery, the cottage remains a place of literary pilgrimage for admirers of classic Romanian literature. It makes a short and moving visit for anyone exploring the city.
