Where to Stay on the Romanian Coast: a Resort Guide

Mamaia — the glamour strip

Mamaia is the coast's shop window: a narrow sandbar with the sea on one side and Lake Siutghiol on the other, lined end to end with modern hotels, beach clubs and terraces. It is where people come for a serviced beach, music and nightlife with no compromise. Rows of sun loungers, DJ beach clubs, restaurants and a water park round out the picture.

Here the sea comes with history: an Old Town of belle-époque buildings, the famous seafront Casino, museums, the Roman Mosaic and a centre that is alive all year.
