Vaslui County

Seat: Vaslui

In eastern Moldavia, Vaslui unfolds over gentle hills and broad valleys, a land of vineyards and history. It was here, in 1475, that Stephen the Great won at Podul Inalt, near Vaslui, one of his most resounding victories over the Ottoman army. The Moldavian hills descend towards the vineyards of Averesti and those around Husi, extending northwards the celebrated Cotnari wine country.

The rural landscape, with churches and manor houses scattered among the slopes, keeps the mood of an unhurried Moldavia. The county seat, the town of Vaslui, claims the memory of the great battle as a symbol of its identity.
