Slobozia
A Bărăgan plains town, near the Amara spa resort.
The seat of Ialomița county, Slobozia rises in the midst of the Bărăgan, the wide and open plain of southern Romania, where the horizon seems never to end. It is a town of fertile fields, with a settled, unhurried air, where life still follows the rhythm of farming and the seasons.
The Sfinții Voievozi monastery watches over the town with its spires, a spiritual presence in the level landscape. A short distance away lies the Amara resort, known for its therapeutic salt lake and the sapropelic mud used in its treatments, a place of health and repose at the edge of the Bărăgan's endless wheat fields.
