Giurgiu
A Danube port town, near Comana Nature Park and the bridge to Ruse.
A Danube port in southern Muntenia, Giurgiu looks across the river toward Bulgaria, to which it is joined by the bridge to Ruse, one of the great crossings of the Lower Danube. The town's skyline is marked by the Clock Tower, a historic landmark raised at its heart, a reminder of the age and strategic role of this river threshold.
A short distance away spreads Comana Nature Park, a vast protected expanse of ponds, lakes and floodplain forest, where reed beds and sheets of water shelter a rich variety of birdlife. It is a realm of stillness and quiet observation, where the Danube and its tributaries trace a landscape of marshes and channels far removed from the bustle of the port.
