Beiuș
A small Bihor town, gateway to the Apuseni, the Meziad Cave and Băile Felix.
Set on the valley of the Crișul Negru at the foot of the Apuseni Mountains, Beiuș is an old market town in Bihor county, in the Crișana region. It keeps the quiet charm of a bygone marketplace, with burgher houses and a calm central square where the roads into the mountains converge. The municipal museum tells the story of the place and its people, poised between the plains and the rock.
Beiuș is the gateway to the most spectacular corner of the Apuseni. Just a few kilometres away lies the Meziad Cave, one of the earliest studied in Romania, surrounded by gorges, sinkholes and forest. Băile Felix, the country's best-known thermal spa, is a short drive off, making the town an ideal base for both hiking and relaxation.
