Parcul Arheologic Constanța

The Archaeological Park of Constanța is a green space in the centre of the city that shelters the remains of ancient Tomis, the Greek colony founded more than two millennia ago and later an important Roman town on the Black Sea. In the middle of the park are displayed fragments of columns, capitals, walls and other architectural elements uncovered during archaeological excavations, testimonies to the rich past of the old citadel. Here one can also see a tower thought to have been part of the ancient enclosure wall, as well as various carved stone pieces that evoke the atmosphere of the Greco-Roman city of old.
The park combines the role of a recreation space with that of an open-air museum, allowing visitors to discover the millennial history of Constanța in an accessible and pleasant setting. Close to the historic centre and other sights linked to the ancient past, the park rounds out the city's cultural routes, which preserve many traces of Greco-Roman civilisation. It is a fitting place for a quiet walk among the vestiges of the past.
